Story
Our listed Villa Mon Repos was built between 1904 and 1905 and is one of the most important villas of its time. It was designed by the Zurich architects Pfleghard and Häfeli , who were among the most successful architectural firms in Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century. The villa was built in the so-called Heimatstil (Swiss vernacular style), an architectural style that combines traditional building forms, regional materials, and handcrafted details.
Characteristic features of this architectural style include the large roof, mullioned windows, bay windows, carved woodwork, and wrought-iron elements. The spacious park with its mature trees also remains part of the villa's historic ensemble. The building has been classified as a valuable historic villa by the Thurgau Cantonal Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments.
Today, Villa Mon Repos is a small, personal bed and breakfast in Aadorf, where guests can experience the charm of a historic house – combined with peace, nature and a family atmosphere.

Renovated with loving attention to detail
Since 2015, our family has lived in Villa Mon Repos, renovating the house step by step with great passion and craftsmanship. In 2017, we were able to take over the villa and have since been carefully restoring the historic rooms while adapting them to modern needs.
We carry out much of the work ourselves, using traditional craftsmanship – from plastering and wallpapering to the restoration of wooden elements. Our goal is to preserve the villa's original character while creating a comfortable place for guests.
We also continuously maintain and develop the park surrounding the house. In recent years, a newly designed garden has been created, featuring dry stone walls , terraces, and many quiet spots for relaxation.
Today we are delighted to share this special house with our guests. Those who stay with us experience not just a bed and breakfast, but a piece of living villa history.
