Quiet garden spaces
in a historic villa
Villa Mon Repos is surrounded by a tranquil and mature garden, which underscores the unique character of our bed and breakfast. Old trees, green lawns, and various garden areas create a relaxed atmosphere and invite you to linger.
The park and the villa have formed a protected ensemble since 1905. As a result, the garden is listed in the ICOMOS inventory of historic gardens and parks in Switzerland . This inventory documents significant gardens and parklands of cultural and historical value.
Over the years, the garden has been carefully maintained and developed. In recent years, we have redesigned individual areas and, with considerable craftsmanship, created terraces, paths, and dry stone walls. In the center, we have rebuilt the fountain according to the original design.
Today, our guests will find various quiet seating areas in the garden where they can enjoy nature, read a book, or simply relax. Especially on warm days, the garden is a popular spot to experience the peaceful surroundings and the view of the greenery.

The development of our garden into a park
The garden surrounding Villa Mon Repos is developing step by step – always with the aim of preserving the historical character of the park while simultaneously creating new, tranquil garden spaces.
Existing elements such as walls, paths, and technical installations are preserved wherever possible and carefully integrated into the design. The starting point for the garden redesign was the old fountain, which we discovered in 2020. Due to the leaking water basin, our vision was to move the fountain to the center of the garden. No sooner said than done! Using a complex process, we were able to reconstruct the fountain to its original size and reuse the old coping stones . An important project was the planning of the dry stone wall, which stabilizes the slope and simultaneously forms a defining design element of the garden.
New gravel paths and seating areas connect different parts of the grounds and offer ever-changing vistas within the garden. Flowerbeds and shrub plantings complement the existing vegetation and lend the garden different moods throughout the year.
A particularly special spot is the newly designed terrace, which invites you to spend relaxing hours outdoors. The pizza and bread oven is another highlight, integrated right into the heart of the park. The grounds are complemented by a wildflower meadow, which underscores the natural design of the garden and creates a habitat for insects and birds.
Sustainability also plays a role: A large rainwater tank allows the use of collected rainwater for garden maintenance as well as for the washing machine and supports a conscious use of resources.
Thus, a garden is created around Villa Mon Repos that combines history, nature and personal craftsmanship.
