Activities and excursions

Whether on foot, by bicycle, public transport or car – our location is ideal for explorers. We offer brochures on site to help you decide or are happy to provide tips.

The new experience program " Typically Thurgau " brings together various authentic Thurgau experiences on one central platform.

Feeling adventurous? Find inspiration here:

Hiking

How about a hike right on your doorstep? For more ambitious hikers, I recommend the Thurgau Circular Hiking Trail ; stages 2 and 3 pass through Aadorf. The Hörnli mountain region is a place of diversity, history, and relaxation – united by nature, culture, and people – and offers a hiker's paradise with the Thurgau Pine Cone Trail . Discover the Toggenburg or Appenzell regions with their viewpoints such as the Churfirsten mountain range , the Säntis , or the Hoher Kasten .

Family outing or mystery trip

Spend relaxing hours as a family grilling in the garden or at a barbecue area along the Rugelreise (Thurgau Marble Run Trail). Or how about a scenic drive, perhaps even in a vintage car ? Order a filled picnic basket from us for that.

Culture

Culture enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy here. Savor the music at the Hänkiturm Classics or attend an event organized by the cultural event organizer "Gong" . The town of Aadorf, known for its literary scene, also offers a diverse range of readings.

Gardens/Parks

Park lovers and garden enthusiasts will find some beautiful gems in Thurgau, such as the peony park at Wellenberg Castle or the Arenenberg Garden World with its 600-year history. The gardens of the Ittingen Charterhouse are also worth a visit. Further gardens can be found along the Thurgau Farm Garden Route and under Lake Constance Gardens.

Waterfall or boat trip

Or are you more drawn to the water? How about a visit to the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen or a boat trip on the Rhine or Lake Constance ? All reachable within half an hour by car.

Bad weather

Even in rainy weather (ideal for families), Eastern Switzerland has plenty to offer, for example the Toggenburg adventure world with the largest hobby model railway in Europe in Gauge 0. Or the Abbey Library in St. Gallen , which looks back on fourteen centuries of history.

Rest and relax

Relax in the hammock or deck chair while your children play in the garden . Enjoy the gentle sound of the fountain or admire the dry stone wall, made of sandstone from the Bärlocher quarry in Rorschach. You are also welcome to retreat to our living room and browse through one of our countless books .
